Newham Ride – Tour de France themed
6th July 2014 @ 10:00 - 16:00
FreeThis ride will be a little bit different to our usual ‘Newham Ride’. Â We applied for – and received – some funding from the Newham ‘Let’s Get the Party Started’ fund and so we are laying on a French breakfast (coffee and croissants) at Moka East at the View Tube before the ride. Â Breakfast will be served from 9.30am.
We are also encouraging new or aspiring cyclists by providing a limited amount of free bike hire.
Most importantly, we want everyone to embrace the spirit of ‘Le Tour’ either by wearing a yellow/green/polka dot jersey, or by dressing to the nines in French chic, or of course, embracing the stereotype and donning beret and string of onions! Â (Alternatively you might be tempted by Bradley Wiggins sideburns).
A leisurely, mostly off road  ride, with cafe stops.  We start at the View Tube on the Greenway, and tour the sites of interest in and around Newham.  We will also see areas of future development.  The ride will visit the Olympic Park, Three  Mills, Cody Dock, Bow Ecology Park, East India Dock, Trinity Buoy Wharf, the Royal Docks (including the Siemens Urban Sustainability Centre)  Thames Barrier Park, Brick Lane Music Hall, London City Airport, the Beckton Alp, and  St Mary Magdalene Church and nature reserve.
Although intended for adults, the rides are suitable for older children accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Hire bikes and special needs bikes are available by prearrangement.
