Rainham Marsh Ride

The Rainham Ride is Newham Cyclists annual visit to the RSPB bird sanctuary at Rainham. We start at the View Tube and take a mostly off road route of about 24 miles to Upminster using the Greenway, Cycle Superhighway 3, Sustrans routes 13 and 136 and the cycle routes within the Ingrebourne Country Park. We end at Upminster Station to catch a train back to Newham. If all train routes are unavailable the ride will be cancelled.

The ride is suitable for those who wish to increase their bike-riding confidence. There is a short section of unmetalled (but rideable) path.

As cycle route 136 has some narrow filter gates the ride is not suitable for tricycles and similar all ability bikes.

There is the opportunity for a short detour to the gardens of Rainham Hall, a viewing hill in the Ingrebourne Country Park and to the Upminster windmill

Refreshment is at the RSPB site where there are outside facilities to ensure social distancing.
