3 routes for all abilities, 16, 27 or 53 miles
Dear Cyclist,
Many of us cycle to enjoy our natural environment and lots head for places such as the hills of Surrey and Sussex. But what many do not realise is that landmarks such as Leith Hill just 25 miles from London in designated areas of outstanding beauty have been opened up by the government to companies to ‘Frack’ for oil and gas.
Across the country communities are organising to stop hydraulic fracturing. It contaminates and wastes precious sources of groundwater, pollutes the air with toxic chemicals and contributes to accelerating climate change with greenhouse gas emissions. Plus to set this in motion roads where we can safely cycle are being clogged up by vehicles carrying drilling rigs, fracking fluids and gallons of water.
‘Le Tour de Frack’ has 3 aims: to have fun, raise awareness and protest against fracking on our doorstep.
Choose your ride and help put a spanner in the spokes of the fracking companies.
Starting from Meadowbank, Dorking, Surrey there are 3 routes of 16, 27 or 53 miles touring the drilling sites of Surrey and Sussex.
Regular SW trains from Waterloo / Victoria direct to Dorking (55mins) no need to book your bike.
