Parks and Nature Reserves Ride

This ride is a leisurely exploration of parks and nature reserves along the Lea Valley the Lower Roding and the Thames. Covering approximately 25 miles we take in a number of parks, nature reserves and open spaces, including Middlesex Filter Beds, Walthamstow Wetlands, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Beckton Creek Nature Reserve, East India Dock, and Bow Creek Ecology Park.

Bring your binoculars as the ride is especially good for birdspotting!

The route is mostly off road and flat. Whilst approximately 25 miles it is suitable for those who have started or are returning to cycling and wish to regain confidence. There are some sections of towpath. About 25 miles with plenty of opportunity to stop for coffee or light refreshment.

Please note the slightly earlier start.  This is to minimise crowd on sections of the Lea Towpath.

Bike from Boleyn

The Bike from Boleyn Ride maintains the link between Boleyn (where West Ham United used to play) and the London Stadium by cycling along the Newham Greenway from the historic Boleyn Tavern to the new stadium on a match day. This is a short (about 3 miles), leisurely, mostly off road ride. You do not need to be going to the match to enjoy this ride. This ride replaces the ride which was postponed on 11 September

There will be a return ride after the match and for those who do not want to go to the football there will be an option of an off-road ride around the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and its surrounding green spaces with a refreshment stop.

If you would like to hire a bike for the pre-match part of the ride please contact newham@lcc.co.uk. There will be no charge.

Rainham Ride 18 July 2021

Our annual leisurely trip to the Rainham Marsh RSPB Bird Sanctuary and on to Upminster.  Between 20 and 25 miles predominantly on cycle tracks and paths.  Refreshments at RSPB where the cafe is open and there is outside seating. Suitable for all bikes.

We leave from the View Tube at 10.00 am – note early start time – and end at Upminster Station to catch the C2C train to either Barking or West Ham.  The District line is not running on 18 July.
