Nature Reserves and Green Spaces of the Lower Lea

The Nature Reserves Ride is a leisurely, mostly off road tour nature reserves green spaces along the Lower Lea including the English Garden in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Middlesex Filter Beds, Walthamstow Wetlands, the Wetlands of the QEOP, the Cody Dock Reedbeds, Bow Ecology Park and East India Dock. Bring your binoculars as the ride is especially good for birdspotting!

It is predominantly off road with some stretches of quiet roads and is suitable for those who have started or are returning to cycling and wish to regain confidence. There are some short sections of towpath and unmetalled pathway. About 18 miles with plenty of opportunity to stop for coffee or light refreshment.

The ride is limited to 15.  Those who have booked will have priority:

This ride is being put on by Newham Cyclists which is part of the London Cycling Campaign.

Walthamstow Marshes and Wetland Centre Nature Ride

A short, nature focused, saunter up the Lea Valley taking in Hackney Marshes, Walthamstow Marshes, the Walthamstow Wetland Centre and the Middlesex Filter Beds. We shall start from the View Tube (where the cafe is not yet open I am afraid).  At the destination of the Wetlands Centre there is a cafe, exhibition/shop and also plenty of places to picnic.  For those who wish there can be a short walk of approx 30 mins  around the reservoirs.  Bird spotters should bring their binoculars!  Almost entirely off road.
