The Secrets of Essex Lanes

This ride will start from Leytonstone station, meet at the cafe at 9.30.  We will take the tube to Epping and follow the lanes to Toot Hill, Greenstead, Ongar and then towards Kelvedon Hatch on the A128 to find the Secret Nuclear Bunker.  This is a mile off the road and well hidden, we will stop and explore the surroundings, there is a £7 cash entrance fee for those that wish to enter, otherwise there is a cafe and some interesting missiles lying around.  The ride will continue through the back of Kelvedon Hatch towards the pretty village of Blackmore.  Lunch will be at the Bricklayers Ams at Stondon Massey, a short but worthwhile detour.  The ride will then return to Kelvedon Hatch, then taking the road towards Navestock.  Joining the A113 we cross under the M25 and turn rights towards Hobbs Cross and Theydon Garton.  The last hill is the pretty and quiet Coopersale Lane which crosses the M11 and leads back to Theydon Bois tube from where we will return.
