Ride to the annual beer festival in Hackney
Bill’s venture south of the river to explore the breweries of Bermondsey and beyond was so successful that we’re doing it again (no doubt with new breweries).
Details nearer the time, but booking will be essential. Over 18’s only.
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF DATE
Following the successful venture south of the river for the last Brewery Ride, Bill is planning to do a ‘north’ and ‘south’ tour of the many, many breweries of London.
This is the northern one, ending up in Forest Gate for the annual Pride celebrations.
Full details nearer to the time and booking is required. Over 18’s only!
A short mostly off-road route to the Pig’s Ear Beer Festival. Bill has organised free entry for anyone joining the ride.
Please note that the departure point is Timber Lodge
There will be a return ride – please drink and ride sensibly!!
Adults only – ride at your own risk etc…
13 of us set of from view tube on another sunny day for a tour this time of South London Breweries. First port of call was however the Husk Brewery in Silvertown–a rare Newham brewery! (Where another rider joined us) We then moved south of the river using the cable car that accepts bikes on board – I still get excited of the great views of London from the high points!
–we then visited more breweries on the ‘Bermonsey beer mile’ as well as stopping at new Bianca brewery that had cycle themes, bike friendly owners & even a brewery tour of the new Spartan brewery where riders quizzed brewer on brewing process.
We then crossed river again via the iconic (but busy) Tower bridge to visit the recently opened Old st brewery in Bethnal green for our final tasting stop of day. We then crossed Victoria park passing Peoples tavern (Laines brewery) finally Crate Howling hopps & trumans & those remaining back to view tube on greenway!
In all we covered over 20 miles & visited 20 breweries/ tap rooms & 1 Cider house!

Bill leads another of our (in)famous brewery rides!
As usual, adults only – limited numbers and riders join at their own risk!
Entry by booking only.
Approx 22 miles easy riding some off road with a few busy roads around Tower Hamlets / Hackney but mainly quiet. New east London breweries added this time -over twenty covered with some refreshment stops.
For those who would prefer to start in Forest Gate (and don’t mind missing the first 2 points on the tour, Mason & Co and Tap East), the first ‘refreshment stop’ is at Pretty Decent so you could meet Bill there at around 12.30. Please let Bill know ahead of time if you’re choosing this option, so that he doesn’t wait for you at the View Tube!
This Saturday you can watch royal wedding or ride around breweries!
Jenni Gwiazdowski, founder of London Bike Kitchen, will be talking about her book ‘How to Build a Bike’, education & empowerment and much more at The Wanstead Tap.
Bill has managed to secure a few free tickets to the Pig’s Ear Beer Festival (usually £5) and Steve will be leading a ride there and back.
We can take a maximum of 12 people on this ride, so please email us to reserve your space.
Obviously this is a ‘ride at your own risk’ event and we ask everyone to be sensible!
Departing from the View Tube at 12.00 and returning from the Round Chapel at 3pm.
2nd brewery tour ride of the year.
Depart 12 noon from View tube
